LONDON (3 February 2016) — If you want to transform your love of writing into a career and see your work published in one of the UK’s most successful travel magazines, the 2016 National Geographic Traveller Travel Writing competition could be your fortuitous foot in the door.

Simply write 500 words on an inspirational travel experience. Keep it focused, capture the essence of a destination and ensure it has National Geographic Traveller’s defining features: immersive travel and authentic storytelling.

Pat Riddell, editor of National Geographic Traveller, said, “This is a really exciting opportunity for all budding travel writers, with the chance to be published in the magazine and win a trip to Madagascar. The winner will embark on a small group expedition led by Daniel Austin and Hilary Bradt, authors of the award-winning Bradt guides to Madagascar and Madagascar Wildlife. The 17-day safari will take you from the lemur-rich eastern rainforests of Andasibe-Mantadia National Park to the spectacular limestone pinnacles and canyons of the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park.
