National Geographic Traveller (UK) Reader Awards 2018, in association with Flight Centre, winners announced

LONDON (26 November 2018) — Bill Bryson, Bristol and Emirates were among the winners announced at the National Geographic Traveller Reader Awards 2018, in association with Flight Centre. The awards ceremony at The May Fair Hotel in London on 26 November was attended by some of the travel industry’s most senior figures.

Pat Riddell, editor of National Geographic Traveller (UK), said: “From old favourites to the new kids on the block, this year’s awards saw thousands of votes for the destinations, hotels, experiences, attractions and personalities making a difference to our readers.

“It goes without saying that the winners deserve huge congratulations — Bill Bryson, in particular, a writer who’s inspired millions with his sharp-witted travel tales over the years.â€

The 2018 awards saw readers vote in 17 categories between June and September. The winners will be featured in the Jan/Feb 2019 issue of National Geographic Traveller (UK), on newsstands 6 December 2018.

Voters were automatically entered into a prize draw. Up for grabs was a five-night stay at the Banyan Tree in Phuket, Thailand, with flights from Destinology; a two-night luxury spa stay in Wiltshire with Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort; two Amazon Kindles; and 20 National Geographic Traveller (UK) subscriptions.
